Urban Tails Partners with CoVet to Deliver Veterinary Care in Poplar Hill First Nation
When the Urban Tails team headed north to Poplar Hill First Nation for their most recent wellness clinic, they knew records would be one of the biggest logistical challenges.
Keeping physical copies of medical records is a requirement of the College of Veterinarians of Ontario, and remote clinics move fast. Dozens of animals come through in a single day, and every one of them needs an accurate, accessible record, often with limited connectivity and a small team wearing many hats.
This time, the team had a new tool in their back pocket.
Urban Tails Animal Support Network partnered with CoVet ahead of the trip to set up an account, build out templates, and customize their dashboard to match how Urban Tails actually works in the field. That prep work made a real difference once the team was on the ground. Instead of losing hours to paperwork at the end of long clinic days, the Urban Tails team could capture clean, structured records as they went and were able to stay focused on the animals in front of them.
“We were able to seamlessly share our records with Huntington Animal Hospital, our partner clinic, who spared a veterinarian, Dr. Lisa, and a technician, John, for the trip.” said Bianca Del Bois, Founder and Executive Director of Urban Tails Animal Support Network.
“While the Huntington team was already familiar with CoVet, ours was new to it. The interface made it easy to pick up and use, and we even had some fun organizing our records afterward, which is something both Ana, our Medical Director, and I thought we'd never say, coming from a clinical background.”
This was Urban Tails’ third time delivering veterinary services in partnership with Poplar Hill First Nation, but this time thanks to CoVet, the team got to focus even more on what matters most: revisiting familiar faces, meeting new ones, providing hands-on care, and making sure every animal and family got the attention they deserve.
